One of only 3,862 units produced, this crossover solid state electronic (SS) machine features a kick-out saucer, 2 ball multiball and clear and curving ramps. The player uses flipper buttons to select a choice of music when prompted. Achieving the “big bang” feature causes the playfield illumination to pulse entirely in red color, accompanied by a ‘sonic boom’ sound effect. Toys include Capt. B. Zarr, an animated head that turned to follow the ball, a dancing (crash-test) dummy, supersonic robotic comic, rocket and a cosmic cottage. Designed by Dennis Nordman. Art by Greg Freres and Jerry Pinsler with dots/animation by Jim Gentile. Mechanics by Win Schilling and Zofia Bil with music and sound by Dan Forden and software by Jim Stompolis and Mike Boon. The backglass and playfield of ‘Party Zone’ contain characters from previous games: The Party Animals from Bally Midway’s 1987 ‘Party Animal’, the Party Monsters from Midway’s 1989 ‘Elvira and the Party Monsters’ and the Party Dudes from Midway’s 1990 ‘Dr. Dude And His Excellent Ray’ all meet on this game at the Cosmic Cottage. Beside the skeleton in the group of Party Monsters, a Trog (video game) caveman, from the 1990 Midway arcade game Trog (video game), can be seen.
